Scilly scented narcissi St Martins

All about our farm

Churchtown Farm is the home of Scilly Flowers - Scilly's postal flower service. Year round we send gift boxes of Scilly grown flowers to any UK address. We're a family farm based on the small island of St Martin's, within the Isles of Scilly National Landscape. The islands have a well deserved reputation for growing high quality flowers. The winter crop of scented narcissi are grown traditionally, outdoors in small fields without the need for additional heat or light, making them a naturally sustainable way to give flowers.

A little bit of history

Over 30 years ago, Andrew and Hilary Julian began sending gift boxes of flowers from our farm by post. This kitchen table enterprise took off, and this thriving business is now run by their son Ben and his wife Zoe. Every year we send thousands of boxes of sustainably grown flowers to doorsteps all over the country. While our narcissi are grown using traditional methods, we continually embrace innovation to ensure the farm is run efficiently and sustainably. With decades of experience behind us, there aren’t many who can rival us for provenance, expertise and experience.

Sustainable flowers

We endeavour to farm in a way that is not only environmentally sustainable but also economically and socially sustainable. We do this not only to care for our island and community but we also try to consider the wider impact of the choices we make.

It's not all flowers

As well as growing and sending flowers we also have a small beef herd and holiday cottages. Both of these Churchtown Farm enterprises have their own websites which will give you more information on these parts of our farm.

FARM PUBLICATIONS

To give you a feel for what we do and probably, even more importantly, how and why we do it, we've pulled together the information we share with our customers, visitors to the farm and the recipients of our flowers.

VISITOR INFORMATION - The information boards at the farm for visitors to read. They give a good overview of what we're about, along with some facts and figures. Designed to be read in situ most of of it will make sense but you'll need to use your imagination in a few places.

FLOWER CARE LEAFLET - This little booklet is sent in with our flowers to give recipients advice on how to make the most of their gift and explain where their lovely flowers have come from.

FARM NEWSLETTER - We send an annual newsletter to our customers in the Autumn. It has news about what we've been up to and is a reminder that scented narcissi make a great Christmas present. You can read past newsletters in our archive.
